ABOUT THE ROLE

We're seeking a Junior IT Systems Technician to join our trading firm. You'll balance IT support responsibilities with software development work, including developing tools and features for our internal platforms and trading systems. This role offers unique exposure to both infrastructure reliability and application development in a fast-paced financial environment, with a focus on AI-driven automation initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor and troubleshoot trading systems and infrastructure
• Provide technical support to traders and business users
• Develop and deploy trading applications and tools
• Write scripts and utilities for automation and reporting
• Maintain and update codebase using Git
• Generate reports and analytics for business teams
• Develop new features for internal platforms
• Contribute to AI-driven support automation initiatives

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficiency in Python (scripting, automation, application development)
• Git version control experience and best practices
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Windows and/or Linux system familiarity
• Understanding of software development lifecycle
• Professional French & English proficiency, both written and oral (regular communication with brokers and technology firms in New York and Toronto)
• Excellent communication and reliability
• Interest in AI automation and software development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with financial systems or trading platforms
• C# and .NET development experience
• Knowledge of databases and SQL
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines or deployment processes
• Shell scripting or other automation experience
• AI/ML concepts for automation and support tooling

Job Description
Role: Junior Associate, with the core objective of learning and becoming an effective trader across various products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diverse Trading Activities: Engage in a wide range of trading activities, building proficiency across various products and markets while contributing to strategy development.
• Market Analysis & Research: Participate in tutorials and conduct research on market tools to deepen understanding of market dynamics and trading techniques.
• Practical Learning with Senior Traders: Execute trading strategies alongside Senior/Associate Traders, gaining hands-on experience and real-world trading insights.
• Daily Monitoring: Analyze daily profit/loss, exposure, and risk to build essential risk management skills.
• Innovative Thinking: Embrace continuous learning and research to foster a mindset of adaptation and growth.
• Technical Collaboration: Partner with internal technology support on trading system issues, gaining valuable insights into the technological aspects of trading.

Requirements:

• Passion: An unrelenting drive and genuine enthusiasm for the capital markets. This role is ideal for someone eager to immerse themselves in finance and committed to continuous learning.
• Attention to Detail: A high level of accuracy and acute attention to detail are crucial for success in this role.
• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
• Certifications: Completion or current enrollment in any of the following programs is considered an asset.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1
  • Trader Training Course (TTC), Canadian Securities Institute
  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Canadian Securities Institute

Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and presentation
• Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and collaboration
• Ability to multitask in a dynamic trading environment
• Excellent analytical skills and sound judgment in decision-making
• Preference for collaborative work that aligns with the firm’s core values
